The choice of different warmth levels and different brightness levels is very good. There's a lot of stability in the goosenecks. However, note that none of the pictures on the product pages show the USB cables that provide power to the lights - the pictures give you the impression that there's no power cord visible above the base.
In fact, you have two long USB cables that you have to manage with the controls of the lights on them. The product comes with some black clips that are a little helpful in controlling the cables, but it's hard not to have it look messy. Even worse, the USB connections are flimsy: I've only had it two days and one of the cables is already not working i. I'd be happy to buy a replacement cable but they don't seem to be available.
If I was buying ring lights again I'd go and do it in a shop. You need to really understand how a thing will look, and removing the untidy cables from the photos was dishonest. I think I'd also prefer ones with longer goosenecks to get the lights coming at my face from wider spaced angles.
This is a great product in principle, but let down by the details. The lights reflected on my glasses so I propped up the base on a couple of shoe boxes. The resulting down-lighting got rid of my second chin, as an unintended benefit!
BUT Never worked as intended Now one of the USB inputs are broken Two ring lights. IF they are working as intended. One of the inputs on the ringlights always gave me issues when plugging in the cable.
It took me a good minute or so to get the cable to go in. Seemed the input itself was off-centered. I ignored it because it would eventually work.
Now, the input has stopped trying to work, and Im left with one ring light. Now, for my remote job, Im completely washed out of the image regardless of brightness level.
Super bummed about this. Oh well, you get what you pay for I guess. The lights are great, but the mobile holder simply isn't stable. The slightest vibration from the desk immediately translates through to the unit and the camera that is attached. That means if you touch the desk with your hands, it shakes.
If you have to type on a keyboard, it shakes. If you look at it wrong, it shakes. Now these are things that can be dealt with during post production if you're recording a video. If you're doing a live event, though, forget it. It needs shock mounts or something in the base.
Great heavy-duty construction. The flexible arms on the lights and camera mount are very good quality and can be repositioned easily. Everything works as advertised. There are three settings for different types of lighting.
They make my skin look pale and unhealthy. I have much better luck using two regular table lamps at about 45 degrees to either side of me. The lights are also very bright. I could not use anything higher than the lowest setting, and even that was too bright.
This light has gotten worse with time. It started flickering a little bit, and then it started flickering a lot. I would not buy this light. This worked great and provided excellent lighting from two angles to make for lovely video during Zoom calls.
Unfortunately the connection of the USB port to the light dis not hold up to the use and slowly started to cause the lights to flicker as they kept losing the contact with the motherboard. Sadly, the port eventually popped off inside the light and could not be reattached to the board in a permanent way.
After 7 months one port entirely popped off and made the light non-usable. Now after 11 months and with the last light barely working, I have to wiggle the cable inside the port just to get a connection.
I will not be buying from this brand again because of the poor quality of their electronic ports and how they connect to the motherboard.
If you plan on using this with a laptop for virtual meetings, know that the base is thick enough to make your laptop wobble when you put your laptop on top of it. Next time I'll make sure to get one with a clip instead and just clip it to the table.
